Hangzhou HollySys Automation Co., Ltd. (Hangzhou HollySys), a subsidiary of HollySys Group (HollySys), and Guangxi Nanguo Copper Co., Ltd. (Nanguo Copper) have together arrived at an agreement on the development of a control system for the latter’s 400,000-ton electrolytic copper project, and provision of an integrated process control solution in accordance with the project’s characteristics.

As Chongzuo’s “leading industry” project, Nanguo Copper’s 400,000-ton copper smelting project adheres to Guangxi’s industrial development concept of “strengthening the leading industry, supplementing the industrial chain and creating an industrial cluster,” adopting world-leading oxygen-rich double side-blown bath smelting, multi-lance top-blown melt blowing, and parallel-flow electrolysis processes. Providing sulfuric acid, produced as a by-product, to nearby producers of metals such as manganese and titanium, its solid waste products, such as tailings and slag, also serve as an input to cement plants. With advanced waste gas, wastewater, and waste residue treatment technology, the project is capable of achieving zero wastewater discharge, and treatment and comprehensive recycling of all hazardous waste. The main sections of the project’s production line include concentrate storage, bath smelting, melt blowing, refining, electrolysis, slag beneficiation, and sulfuric acid workshops, an anode mud area, and various auxiliary public and environmental protection works.
As a Chinese copper smelting installation with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons in a single production line, the project has large-scale data volume and communication needs, creating a requirement for high stability communications over a reliable system, which is complex and hard to control. Hangzhou HollySys’s Guangzhou Liaison Office organized an efficient team, which, in conjunction with the Industry Department and other departments, coordinated the resources of multiple departments to provide project follow-up.
